Bulimia
Another psychological eating disorder, but unlike anorexia, people who suffer from bulimia binge eat and then purge later through means of vomiting, laxatives, diuretics and also compulsive exercising.

Bulimia Signs and Symptoms:
• Discrete periods of overeating followed by an attempt to avoid weight gain
• Sense of a lack of control over the eating
• Binge eat & engage in compensatory behavior at least 2 times a week for 3 months

Compensatory Behaviors Including:
• Self-induced vomiting
• Misuse of laxatives
• Severe caloric restriction
• Diuretics
• Excessive exercising

Bulimia Facts:
• About 4% college-aged women have bulimia
• Bulimics are usually of average or above average weight.
• There is full recognition of the behavior as abnormal

Consequences of Bulimia:
• Esophagus tears
• Stomach rupture
• Life-threatening heart rhythm irregularities
• Tooth decay
• Constipation
• Ulcers
