Taking Care of You
Do you wonder whether you have an alcohol or drug problem?
Sometimes looking in the mirror and admitting you need help can be one of the hardest things to do.
www.CheckYourself.org is a site that allows you to complete personal (and anonymous) quizzes and virtual scenarios to figure out if you have a problem with drugs or alcohol.
Ways to Stay Free of Drugs and Alcohol
Choose Your Friends Wisely
• Friends that don’t support your decision not to use drugs and alcohol aren't really your “friends.” Find people to hang with that care about their future.
• Plan your weekends/vacations. Having a plan can help avoid bad decisions like going to parties where you know alcohol and drugs are present. Plan a trip to the movies, the mall, a concert, or a sporting event.
Get Moving
Any activity that gets you moving will occupy your time. If you are not involved with a school or club team you might want to organize your friends into a volleyball, softball or bowling team.
Get Involved
Become a part of an organization that gives you purpose. Whether it’s a club at your school, a local church or becoming a volunteer in the community, being a part of something good can help give you purpose and increase your self-esteem. Teens that have strong self-esteem are less likely to have a drinking or drug problem.
