Danger of Over-Exercising
While exercising is good for you, over-exercising can do harm. Girls who exercise too much and have very little body fat may experience amenorrhea (the disappearance of the menstrual cycle) and osteoporosis (fragile bones). Both boys and girls could experience muscle and/or joint pain, physical exhaustion, stress fractures, and dehydration as a result of over-exercising. It is not healthy for the body or the mind to over-exercise. Consult your doctor, coach, or trainer so you can develop an exercise plan that will work for you.
