Every year in the United States, nearly ¾ of a million teenagers get pregnant every year.

Prevention
Abstinence (not having any kind of sex) is the best way not to get pregnant. For those who choose not to abstain from sex, there are various methods to prevent pregnancy. Some of the methods of pregnancy prevention or contraception that are available to teens include: male and female condoms, birth control pills, the patch, Nuva Ring, the shot, and the list goes on. Abstinence and condoms are the only birth control methods that help prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Options
When a teen becomes pregnant she has three basic options: becoming a mother, abortion, or adoption. This is an extremely difficult and emotional decision to make and she shouldn’t attempt to do it on her own. Most pregnant teens seek support from their partners, parents, and/or friends. She must take many factors into consideration and make the choice that is best for her.
